Abraham biography
Abraham Lincoln was born on February 12, 1809 to Thomas and Nancy Lincoln. He grew up in Hodgenville, Kentucky, and lived out in the wilderness. He was brought up doing chores, and had a special talent of using an ax at a young age. Upon attending an ABC school, Abraham learned how to read, write, and solve arithmetic problems. He and his family constantly had problems with the milk sick disease, which was the cause of the death of Abraham’s mother. One of Abraham’s first jobs as a young adult was to build a flatboat and take it down the Mississippi River loaded with cargo. From then on, his occupations seemed to be constantly changing. Some of the other jobs he became involved in were a clerk in a general store in New Salem, served three months as a private, opening a general store in New Salem once again.People say Abraham was on of the truly great men of all time . He preserved the american union during the civil war and proved to the world that democracy can be a lasting form of government . Lincolns Gettysburg address and many of his other democratic beliefs and goals. Abraham realized that at the start of the civil war that the union needed to be saved the united states was the only important. As President, he built the Republican Party into a strong national organization. Further, he rallied most of the northern Democrats to the Union cause. On January 1, 1863, he issued the Emancipation Proclamation that declared forever free those slaves within the Confederacy. Abraham was the one president that really made the impact on slavery how he did that was by winning the civil and there was not just white union troops there was blacks union troops too and it was said that they had more heart and pride then the white people that are going out and fighting the war and Abraham Lincoln was going to let them fight for there freedom when Abraham got older and heard the stories of the underground railroads and the book that Frederick Douglass wrote about how they treated the blacks in slavery and that made him open his eyes to fight for there freedom because it say that every man or woman or child are to be treated equally and the blacks where not being treated right so he took action and that civil war started between the north and the south to free the slaves . Abraham had lots of good ideas when the war was going on he knew that the train would help the army in many different way some of the different ways that the train helped the union army was that the train could send the whole army across the country to the south in about seven days and on foot that would take like six mouths . Abraham also had the great idea to use the telegraph to get the message out to his army to tell them how to fight and to tell his general where to move next and then the general can tell Lincoln how many people have died and how they are doing in battle and what they need to keep fighting . After having the telegraph to use Lincoln started to realize that the fire power was not the key to really win he wanted to try to save his people fighting for him so he sent lots of doctors and volunteers to help save lifes of the soldiers that got shot in the battle . After freeing the save there where some that still didn't support Lincoln and some of them just took it to a whole new level of trying to kill him and one did it in the night of April 14,1865 John Wilkes Booth shot Abraham Lincoln in the back of the head wile he was at the theater with his wife .
